MARY4PRESCOTT

I’m so grateful to everyone who stopped to speak with me and sign my nominating petition — thanks to you, I’m officially on the August 5th ballot for Prescott City Council.
Asking for signatures was out of my comfort zone at first, but what stayed with me were the conversations — the stories you shared, the concerns you voiced, and the hopes you have for our city. Over 75% of my qualifying signatures came from direct conversations — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
That openness, that spirit of listening, is something I will carry with me into every Council meeting. Prescott deserves leadership that hears every voice.
The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.

Meet Mary
Mary’s journey is one of service, perseverance, and commitment. She grew up as one of nine children, blessed to be raised by Depression-era parents who taught values of standing for what's right and working hard for what matters. After high school, with no money for college and a strong aversion to debt, she joined the U.S. Navy. Stationed in the wilds of the Great Central Basin of Nevada, she ran radar at the Electronic Warfare Range, training combat pilots to detect and avoid surface-to-air missiles.
While stationed at NAS Fallon, Mary met and married Gene, a fellow sailor. Shortly after they married, and with plans for the next duty station in Japan, life, fate, or maybe it was just that drunk driver, had other plans. After the accident ended Gene’s military career, the two adapted and rebuilt — moving forward with determination, supporting each other through school and careers, and eventually finding their way to Prescott.
Mary spent years working full-time while putting herself through college, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration (Operational Management), then Cum Laude from law school. As an attorney, she spent fifteen years defending hospitals and healthcare providers, school districts, small businesses, and homeowners, providing vigorous defense but always in a spirit of fairness, integrity, and working toward thoughtful decision-making.
Mary and Gene moved to Prescott in 2013. After too many moves to count, it was with the intention of putting down roots. Drawn by the area’s natural beauty and small-town character, Prescott is indeed their 'forever home.' After her work life wrapped up. Mary got busy learning about her new home. She attended the City’s Citizen and Police Academies, providing a window into the workings of the City. She volunteered with local service organizations, putting her time and energies into direct people-to-people service. Drawn to provide service in the civic arena, she stepped into volunteer roles within City government, sitting on the Board of Adjustment and the General Plan Review Committee.
Through it all, Mary has remained grounded in her belief that public service means being accessible, informed, and respectful. Whether in a courtroom, a volunteer role, or a Council seat, her goal is the same: to do the work with clarity, fairness, and an open heart.
In Our Community
Since moving to Prescott, Mary dove headfirst into learning how our city works and finding ways to give back. From volunteering with People Who Care and CASA to serving on the Board of Adjustment and the General Plan Review Committee, Mary has always believed in doing the work — not just talking about it.

There will be several forums between now and the August 5 primary that will allow for Prescott voters to get to know the candidates. Recently (April 18) Mary was on KYCA's morning talk show "KYCA Talks" with host Mary Ann Suttles. They talked about her background, her approach to City governance, and key issues impacting Prescott.
